It was clear looking into the back of the car that it was time for some investigation. The bevel box really shouldn't wobble like that. Its the same crownwheel and pinion that was in the car when DAT got it in 1953. Looking inside there is one tooth which has about 25% missing and the other has a kind of scoop missing/cavity (see the photos). One of these injuries has been there for years and we removed fragments with a magnet some years ago. The trusted Huddersfield man informed me that the countershaft was bent by 0.023" so we decided to replace the crown wheel and pinion and crack test/ straighten the countershaft but no crownwheel pinion spares were available. We rang around and advertised on the Frazer Nash website but there were none found on any shelves, so the Bevel Box was put on hold until the autumn.....
