So post the centenary run and a stretched chain we thought we’d take a look at this oval stretched hole - on inspection both sides were the same and on a bit closer inspection the bolts appeared bent. we decided we needed to take a closer look.
We were also a bit alarmed having seen Tom McQ’s text about radius arm bolts
Here’s the nasty bent bolts and too much play and note the cup and ball mounting on the chassis - time for an upgrade
so it was back axle out and time to discover other failing parts. The radius arms aren’t original so time for a replacements on either side
Now this bit is original and 1 of the 1 in 5 parts so brased and repaired then filed down
The rear brakes are worn and some bits snapped off so ideally to be replaced
So we ordered some new anzani 10" drums brake shoes from SBE- when they arrived they were too big
1927 shocks
The old ball joint fitted on earlier cars and the new pillar bolt
Getting ready to go back together including the whole set up , pillars , eye bolts , silent blocs and barrel nuts
Getting the measurements right
A 2 person job
The brakes are too big - MG explains about original cone brake drums and the later Lada FN spares which were produced.
Back of a van consultation
Fitted but not tightened up so note the slack chains
its all straight but its a wide angled shot....
