and of course he's correct .
There's some slackness in the drive (a third of a turn!) which is taken up when the car is running
Also there's too much movement in the distributor body.
& when we have tried to adjust the points then the car just won't work.
David had look and noticed the condenser is the wrong side of the coil for starters...
He also also noticed that the distributor gears are very worn and is "suprised the the car is running"there there was a differential diagnosis of the slackness in the drive... of sloppy timing chains so i'm relieved its not engine out...

Apparently it's a little DK4A . So off with the distributor for a a rebuild (typically £185.00+ vat and a 4 week turn around)
So the Distributor Dr ordered
- A Full rebuild & recalibration DJ/DK HybridCC top 12 deg@15
- replaced the dahft
- re[;aced the cam
- 2 weight advance 400148/50
- LT connector DK 400034 replaced
