Here's the back axle out of the car on the workshop floor in Huddersfield
(lovely carpet JB-always recylce old carpets into the garage ......)
So this needed to be straightened as bent. It had been rubbing on the brake shoes and had worn through the back plate and got as far as the radius arm! These rear brake back plates which have worn right through and so were best replaced.
They were reassembled generally de-burred and filed and fitted and cleaned all the bits in the parts cleaner and then painted black. Braces were welded onto the radius arms.
The radius arm housing also had had a good dink! Not hammered straight as it would crack, just the ground raised lump down.
'Huddersfield man' welded up the gouges made by the brake shoes rubbing though. Tuffnol blocks made (spring end to radius arm housing pads) the same heights either side so it may help level the car (only 3/8 inch difference though)..... there's always been a tilt on the car...
JB also installed lovely new standard soft linings for the rear brakes.
