We matched up the shoes from PBE with the back plate/ drums. Like the ones previously on the car these also need an additonal block of metal at the bottom so that there is equal pressure around the shoes. JG made a couple of metal templates (correct size and thickness). We need to get them machined and then the new shoes fitted
One of the bolts above that hold on the brake drums on the near side has sheered off and one needs to be rewelded so JG whisked it away to make it safe. The MOT was due this week so did the SORN last week.
We also replaced the u bolts and spring bolt on the front springs- look at the threads on the old ones...
We also tightened up the steering column cuff to stop some minor play.
JG was not too impressed with the top radiator hoses so they were replaced.
I showed JG my 'clip on' Alpine Carb Shield to stop the carburetter freezing up - we usually use cardboard and gaffer tape.
