Just thought i'd better check the new spares spigot diameter and the bearing diameter but the spigot is 6thou out...
so as seen here 6.94" (no metric vernier sorry) on the spigot
and 6.85 on top of what i believe to be the correct bearing '2 row self aligning' 1202 (workshop manual info shown in background)
I think it's supposed to be a press fit... so it can move a bit? SBE suggetsed the easiest may be to machine out the bearing to fit (and have a couple spare)
CROSS SHAFT BRACKET
So also bought two new spare cross shaft brackets... but the fittings are much deeper than the original. On the RHS of the car there is a diagnonal bolt through it so it was slightly complicated getting this in the right place without changing the bar or wrecking the fitting ! a photo to show it fitted after a ridiculous five hours of faffing....
