Bored a lot of people with this issue this weekend. Left JB alone- he was too busy organising and winning hill records ...Well the props out and the action plan drawn up:
1. Make a new spigot bearing carrier
I think van man looks like he has a hangover don't you? 3 hours in the garage - I think I like being a sous chef...
Robin has kindly said he would help me with this.
- The spigot bearing inner is too tight on the spigot - (not a push touch fit- its stuck on)
- The outer bearing is also too lose in the carrier- we think it amy be worn by too many clutch incidents, 2000 (1000miles) , 2009 (Bolzano) to name but 2.
- Winston suggested including a grease nipple on the carrier behind the bearing
- I need to clean up the high tensile bolts with allan key bolt heads (phoenix?) that hold this on as they are covered in locktite- Jon suggested using a dye to clean the threads
2. Also need to sort out the clutch
- One of the toggles with a split pin needs rewelding
- Dad suggests I replace the toggles and arms and replace them but other competent Nash men think they are all ok and needs to make sure they all the same and weigh the same (dad doesn't do the internet so wont know I'm dissing him here)
- Then I need to make sure they're all put equal pressure on the clutch collar - and use spacers here (piccy) if they need to be balanced (with washers on the others at the end of the bolt to make sure they all weigh the same )
- & that castellated nut needs a split pin...
3. The prop bolt at the rag joint has a bent head- which works but looks a bit shagged (a FN technical term) so ideally I need a new ball headed bolt to fit in the cup bolt on the bevel box nose
so not much to do really- should be back in next week ha ha
