Here's the damage done by the petrol leek on the underside of the tank. I was rather hoping it was the seal on the drain but hey ho it's not that simple .... the red permanent marker shows the split
Car husband (check out his messerschmitt nose) is taking the tank to see Graham Still today for wise words on what we can do.
All good raid preparation.....
Petrol tank progress
the debate has been whether we need a new tank Bill C at the nash party talked to Jon about Mark a man he knows who may be able to help
Early January 2013
.
Mid Januray Progress
Car husband Jon went to visit Mark Roper of Pinchcliffe Engineering. Mark is seen here in front of a BMW engined TTrep which is near completion. Spot the PH's tank...Mark fortunatley is happy to put a patch over the 'breast' , fix the weap on the old air inlet and chemically seal the whole inside.
late january and mark is washing out the rust and chemically sealing the tank, and reports it is off to "Barry the brush"....
Jon has also come back talking about getting the old air pressure system working as a back up for the fuel pump if it fails.... I do think its important to have a never ending 'to do' list for one's Nash.
The tank carrier
Meanwhile the tank carrier seems to be covered in miscellaneous materials... there is a fabric strip (visible on this photo) which has been riveted on, then its been covered in a type of felt and in other parts sponge, then all taped up. Here's a piccy of the tape all scraped off. Time for a clean up and find out what might be best to use to support the tank .
