The list on the garage wall has a task 'check front wheels' we didnt mange to complete this one...
Once you have lost a wheel you really work quite hard to never let this happen again. See the damage where the brake drum hit in the road...
This is an interesting DAT 'modification' which means that the wheel is bolted on by nuts...odd you say but look it's true. Anyway these can undoe themselves / shear off so need to be regualry checked (one stud missing on this pic!).
So whilst checking this and checking the brake linings (which are down to the rivets) we discover that two out of four of the front shoes 10" are broken
So with previous welding scars ideally these should be replaced but may have to be re welded. No spares, but signposted to IL in leciestershire (who put the engine in the car in 1988/89) who casts new ones. But alas he has none on his shelf and no plan for the next batch. We plan to put a plea on the FN website. Have you got any 10" Shoes?

STOP PRESS apparently these shoes are as rare as rocking horse droppings.....PBE has found some which he is giving us......we'll have to match them up and check out the linings and hopefully all will be tickety boo...
11/02/09 here are the new shoes
and i did a spot of cleaning of the old drums whilst they were off the car (9.85 " diameter) with wire wool and cream bleach...
