SUNDAY 6th DECEMBER
The plan, Lee said he'd come over and help so decided to remove the propshaft... which is a bit bent and out of line. Now quite alot of us didnt know that the 'screwed in' spigot was a common early bodge. DAT didn't know but after much discussion every seems to believe it is best being fixed so this will be looked at too.
I shall document this in case the propshaft is out of the car for awhile and I have a reminder of
how to get the car Back together..
Undo spring on propshaft , marking it first with a blade .... and mesured the distance from the cross member to where the spring is tightend up to.
this is a picture of the ruler! lest i forget!
Undo bolts at front of rag joint...
1 washer in front of bolt 2 before the rag
Then at the back of the propshaft you have to slacken off the stop nut so you can wind in the nut and remove it to get clearance to get the propshaft out
Remove back of rag joint and bolts so to allow play to remove prop
shaft...
Remove dynamo belt!
Undo nuts forward of clutch springs and use screwdriver to get the springs off the bolt
(1 sping was already broken)
Undo bolts on LHS of car on brake pedal bar and LHS spare wheel bracket
bolts .... Undoe front RHS wheel bracket bolt
Pedal bar is on a spring so push down then 4 hours later we simply wiggled out the propshaft
to the front & LHS of the car
and Lee with the propshaft ready to take SBE at the Nash party
2& 3 evrytime i try to extend this blog it crashes so heres for a new post
